Military Discharge DD214 Request

 

Who May Obtain a Copy of a Military Discharge:

  • Military Veteran
  • Military Veteran's Dependents 
  • County Veteran's Service Officer
  • Representatives of the Department of Veterans' Affairs
  • Any person with written authorization from the military veteran or the military veteran's dependents. 

Fees:
There is no charge for certified copies issued.

What You Need:

  • A Completed Military Discharge - Request Form is needed in order to obtain a copy of a military discharge.
  • A photo ID is required from the person requesting a copy of the military discharge. 

You MUST fill out a request form as required by state law. Our Office cannot accept this form via email or fax.

Honor Rewards Program

 

The Honor Rewards Program is a service provided to all veterans. Veterans can view Logan County businesses, along with other counties and states, that offer discounts. Signing up for rewards is completely free and easy. 

Businesses can sign up through the Honor Rewards Program to be displayed. The sign up process for Honor Rewards is free to all businesses.   

 

 

Notice of Recording Fee Schedule Change

 

The County Clerk serves as the Recorder of Deeds in Logan County. Records of real estate transactions are recorded in the County Clerk's office. Real estate recordings date back to 1839.

 

Document Preparation

 

Document Preparation is a specialized task which may demand legal knowledge or advice. The Office of the County Clerk is forbidden by law to give legal advice.

The following documents are necessary for certain filings: 

Documents for recording must contain:

  • Name and address of "Prepared By"
  • Name and address of "Return To"
  • Name and address of "Tax Bill To" (if applicable)
  • Property Tax Identification Number
  • Legal description
  • Common address

 

 Standard Document (55 ILCS 5/3-5018)
  • 8.5" x 11"
  • Black Ink
  • Minimum 10 point type
  • 3" x 5" blank space in upper right corner of first page
  • A page may not have anything affixed to it with tape, glue, label, etc.
 Non-Standard Documents (55 ILCS 5/3-5018)
  • Any Document failing to meet the requirements listed under Standard Document
 RHSP Exempt

  The $19.00 Rental Housing Support Program surcharge does not apply to the following:

  • Articles of Incorporation
  • Birth, Death, and Marriage Records
  • Memorandum of Judgement/Release of Judgement
  • Notice of Probate
  • Power of Attorney
  • Transcripts
  • Affidavit 
  • Wills
  • UCCs and Terminations
  • Easements
  • Sewerage, Weed, Garbage, Water Liens, and Releases
  • Documents for State, Federal Agencies, and Local Units of Government

Recording Fees

Our current, acceptable forms of payment for recordings are cash or check only.

*We only accept exact fee amounts to record documents. If we do not receive our required fee amount, we will not accept documents to record.

 

E-Recording

 

     E-recording is the process of submitting documents for recording online, no paper copies of documents will be used. The County Clerk’s staff will review, record, and return the document electronically as well. This process reduces the turnaround time, reduces the time for handling rejected documents, and eliminates uncertainty caused by delays in the mail. This service is available through four separate vendors:

Land Records Search

 

   The data and document images from December 1, 1984 to present are available online. You are welcome to come to our office and use one of our free terminals to search information. The Logan County Clerk's office is open 8:30 a.m.-4:30 p.m., Monday-Friday. If this is not convenient, listed below are options to search Logan County land records via the internet.

 Who Can Become A Deputy Registrar?
  • Municipal Clerks
  • Township/Road District Clerks
  • Precinct Committeepersons

UPON WRITTEN REQUEST, the following may make an application to their election authority to become a deputy registrars: [10 ILCS 5/4-6.2(a), 5-16.2(a), 6-50.2(a)]

  • Chief Librarian or their designee
  • High School/Elementary School Principal or their designee
  • President of a university, college, community college, vocational school, academy or other institution of learning or their designee
  • Officials or their designees of bona fide state labor organizations
  • Officials or their designees of bona fide state civic organizations as certified by the State Board of Elections
  • President of any corporation as defined by the Business Corporation Act of 1983 or their designated employees
  • Chairperson of the County Central Committee of recognized political parties
  • **Director of Illinois Department of Healthcare and Family Services or their designee
  • **Director of the Illinois Department of Employment Security or their designee

 YOU MUST BE A REGISTERED VOTER IN LOGAN COUNTY!

 Appointment and Training

 Upon appointment, each application must: 

  • Attend a 45-minute training class conducted by the staff of the Logan County Clerk's office.
  • Take the official oath.
  • Receive training and registration supplies.
