The Logan County Highway Department is accepting applications for summer internships.  The positions will provide assistance to the road maintenance crew for the summer months.  Other duties may include assisting the engineering staff with survey work and construction inspection. 

Applicants must be enrolled in college and be able to work 40 hours per week during the summer months.  Engineering students are encouraged to apply.

Preferred qualifications include experience with equipment and machinery.  Applicants should be trustworthy and able to work outdoors in variable weather conditions.  A driver’s license is required.

Logan County Animal Control is looking for permanent part time help.

-Must be able to life 50lbs unassisted & clean lower kennels

-Valid Drivers License

-Logan County Residency is required

-Must be able to work weekends and be able to be On Call

-Must be comfortable around animals

Logan County is a stop along the Amtrak route between St. Louis and Chicago.  There is a local cab service and a public bus service provided by SHOW BUS.

Communities Here in Logan County

Logan County is rich with history but is also full with many small farming communities.  Many of our communities lie along Old Route 66 and there are many visitor sites along the way right here in Logan County.  Come explore the trail that Abraham Lincoln made before he was President as he practiced law in Postville, Illinois. Postville was later named after Abraham Lincoln and was christened by Lincoln before he was President of the United States.

Camping and Parks Information

There are several large parks throughout Logan County including Edward Madigan State Park which has several miles of trails and chances to see the local wildlife.  We also offer many camping locations in Logan County.
